What is propolis?
Propolis is a resinous mass produced by bees. Originally, propolis served bees in nature to kill bacteria in the hive and was used as a natural “resin putty”. Propolis is rich in polyphenols and has antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal properties. Polyphenols are chemical compounds from the phenolic group of substances, which are naturally present in plants in the form of secondary plant substances. These are bioactive substances, such as dyes, tannins and flavors, which perform various functions in the plant.
